Xi'an deepens relations with Uruguay city

Xi'an signed an agreement with San Jose de Mayo, Uruguay, on May 18 to deepen friendly relations.

Uruguay is renowned for its football prowess, vast grasslands, and high-quality agricultural and animal husbandry products, serving as an important trade and investment partner of China.

The city is in the San Jose Department, a core economic hub and a national agricultural and animal husbandry base. As its capital city, San Jose de Mayo boasts a long history and acts as a traditional commercial, trade, and cultural center for southern Uruguay.

The two sides will carry out economic and trade investment, cultural tourism, and educational exchanges, with mutually beneficial cooperation covering food processing, new energy, equipment manufacturing, cultural heritage preservation, and sports and personnel training.

The Xi'an municipal bureau of sports signed a framework cooperation agreement with San Jose de Mayo, agreeing to deepen exchanges in national fitness initiatives, competitive sports development, and coach training.

Xi'an University also inked an education cooperation memorandum with the city to build cooperation platforms focused on cultural heritage conservation, Chinese language promotion, and talent cultivation, share high-quality educational resources, and strengthen cultural exchanges.
