Shanxi family makes China's 'Model Families' list

Shen Yun's family from Shanxi province has earned a spot on the list of "2026 Model Families", as announced by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the All-China Women's Federation on May 15.

Shen Yun, a retired principal from the Xinghualing District Experimental Kindergarten in Taiyuan, is a third-generation descendant of Shen You, the founder of Laoshuku Yuanxiao, a renowned, time-honored glutinous rice ball brand. She has brought her family's business values of "integrity, kindness, and virtue" into her career in early childhood education.

After dedicating 44 years to early childhood education, Shen Yun established free online micro-courses upon retirement, delivering over 200 classes in five years. Inspired by her, the entire family now engages in volunteer work, embodying love and kindness in their daily lives and upholding and passing down the essence of a beautiful family ethos through their actions.

Integrity is the cornerstone of the Shen family's legacy, deeply embedded in their family values and daily lives. Shen Yun's grandfather, Shen You, founded Laoshuku Yuanxiao in 1928, with his steadfast commitment to quality and reputation becoming a hallmark in Shanxi.

This year, 10 families were selected as "Model Families", including those of Liu Chuang, Pang Weitao, Zhao Juanjuan, and Zhang Guoli. These families exemplify the virtues of tradition and excellence, integrating personal and family dreams with national aspirations and achieving greatness in their daily pursuits.
