New embodied AI base drives Jinan's robotics ecosystem

The Hengyuan Zhiqi Shandong AI industry base opened in Jinan on April 28, marking a new step in the city's development of its robotics industry.

Located in the Tianqiao district, the project entails a total investment of 500 million yuan ($73.13 million) and spans 180,000 square meters. It is designed as a comprehensive platform for R&D, manufacturing, application, and talent development, with a focus on embodied AI and robotics.

During the launch, a range of robotic applications were demonstrated. Bipedal robots performed synchronized movements, showing advances in motion control and coordination. The exhibition area also featured robots for logistics, patrol operations, beverage preparation, and household services, highlighting the growing role of AI in both industry and daily life.

The project is expected to support the development of an industry ecosystem in Tianqiao by promoting the integration of AI and robotics, strengthening the manufacturing of key components, and encouraging a wider application of advanced technologies. It also reflects the district's efforts to foster new growth drivers and build a more innovation-driven economy.
