A delegation of 41 teachers and students from Utah, United States, participated in a study tour with students from Xi'an International Studies University (XISU) from April 6 to 9.
Through immersive cultural experiences, youth dialogues, and interactive exchanges, the event aimed to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between young people from China and the US.
The delegation visited scientific and technological innovation platforms, such as XISU's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the International Communication Center, gaining a close-up look at Shaanxi's latest achievements in artificial intelligence, scientific and technological innovation, and other fields.
A friendly table tennis match was held at Xi'an Gaoxin No 2 Middle School, where participants bonded through sports and deepened their friendships. The group also toured cultural sites including the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum and the Xi'an City Wall. They experienced cycling inhanfu(traditional Chinese clothing) and strolled along Shuyuanmen Cultural Street and the Grand Tang Mall, immersing themselves in the vibrant life of the prosperous Tang Dynasty (618–907) and the charm of intangible cultural heritage. At SAGA International Shopping Center, they experienced the commercial vitality of Shaanxi's modern metropolis.
Most members of the delegation were visiting China for the first time. Through this study and exchange program, they came to appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture and gained a more direct understanding of Shaanxi's history and culture.
One delegation member said, "The trip to Shaanxi is truly impressive. I am willing to share what I have seen and heard with my family and friends, so that more US teenagers can get to know China and Shaanxi."
