The original dance drama Qiuci premiered on April 17 at the Urumqi Cultural Center Grand Theater in Xinjiang. Told through the eyes of Xuanzang (602-664) —a famed monk who journeyed west in search of Buddhist scriptures — the production revisits the life of Kumarajiva (344-413), whose translations shaped East Asian Buddhism. The performance vividly portrays the cultural exchange along the ancient Silk Road.
