The municipal government of Quzhou in Zhejiang province held a news conference to introduce the 2026 Fun Countryside series on April 9.

The initiative aims to transform the city's countryside into a joyful destination for all, offering a raft of cultural events and local festivals throughout the year to boost rural tourism.

A key feature of this year's series is the Dancing Villages event, encouraging community participation across Quzhou. Teams will compete from April through December in a four-tiered competition culminating in a citywide championship. More than 100 matches are planned throughout the year.

As the 18th Games of Zhejiang Province is set to be held in Quzhou in October, the venues for the Dancing Villages event will feature elements of the Games.

Quzhou has also designed complementary activities such as the Find Star Square Dancers contest and a themed photography exhibition capturing the vitality of rural dance.

Beyond dance, two districts, three counties, and Jiangshan county-level city will present unique offerings, inviting everyone to participate.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy events, including a rural badminton league in Qujiang district and the "Cultural Hall Cup" basketball tournament in Longyou county.

Art lovers can engage in music competitions in Jiangshan, while food enthusiasts can explore culinary contests in Changshan and Kaihua counties.

Quzhou plans 80 activities across 100 landmarks, ensuring year-round engagement and transforming the city's rural landscape into a lively cultural tapestry.
