Tuyuan Industrial Co in Shanxi province's Youyu county has received organic product certification from the Germany-based CERES (Certification of Environmental Standards), becoming the first global producer of freeze-dried scallions to achieve EU certification.
This certification is a testament to Youyu's superior ecological environment, characterized by a high-altitude setting and significant day-night temperature variation, coupled with organic-rich soil, which not only suppresses pests and diseases but also imbues the scallions with a unique flavor.

In Tuyuan Industrial's smart production facility, fresh scallions are processed using imported advanced purification equipment, undergoing multiple steps, including washing, disinfecting, and cutting, before entering the vacuum freeze-drying production line.
This comprehensive organic management from field to factory has enabled products to meet various global food safety standards, making the EU organic certification well-deserved.
The company has established a full-chain operation encompassing organic cultivation, intelligent processing, and independent sales, producing approximately 300 metric tons annually and exporting to countries like Germany and the United States, accounting for about 50 percent of the global export market.
"Both the growth quality and production process of these scallions have passed the scrutiny of the EU market," said Wang Tao, a purchaser responsible for the overseas expansion of Youyu scallion products. "Now, our business is thriving, with more EU countries and companies embracing Chinese brands."
