Xi'an landmarks win intl awards

Two landmarks in Xi'an's Xixian New Area have won international industry awards, with Xi'an Xianyang International Airport ranking second in the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards' list of "World's Best New Airport Terminals", and Xi'an International Football Center shortlisted for the StadiumDB Stadium of the Year 2025.

Skytrax is a highly authoritative international rating organization for aviation and airport service quality. Its awards are based on real passenger satisfaction surveys conducted worldwide, covering over 500 airports across more than 100 countries and regions, with the results widely recognized as highly credible industry benchmarks.

Terminal 5, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport's core expansion and upgrade project, has attracted wide attention since its opening on Feb 20, 2025. In addition to its outstanding construction, the airport has also been recognized by Skytrax for its service quality improvements. In the 2025 Skytrax Best Regional Airports in China Awards, it ranked fifth nationwide, demonstrating its remarkable achievements in service enhancement and operation management.

T5 has turned the airport into the largest gateway airport in western China, with 600,000 flights annually, averaging nearly 1,700 flights per day. This not only lays a solid foundation for Xixian New Area's Airport New City to serve as a starting point for the air Silk Road, but also helps the area attract airport-related industries and deepen its opening-up.

The "Stadium of the Year" award, organized by StadiumDB, is the world's largest annual international award for stadiums, recognizing benchmark projects among newly built venues worldwide that excel in architectural creativity, design quality, construction standards, and spectator experience.

Xi'an International Football Center, located in Xixian New Area's Fengdong New City, is the only professional football stadium in Northwest China that meets FIFA standards. Covering an area of 280mu(18.67 hectares) and a construction area of 268,000 square meters, it features a main stadium with over 60,000 seats and two international-standard training pitches, and is capable of hosting top international football events, including the FIFA World Cup.

The center made its debut in September 2025, hosting Group D matches of the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, and is currently hosting the CFA Team China U-23 International Tournament Xi'an 2026, which kicked off on March 25. In addition, Shaanxi Union Football Club, Xi'an's professional club, announced on March 12 that it would base its home matches here, injecting new momentum into the development of Xixian New Area's cultural and sports industries.

The area will rely on these two benchmark projects to strengthen its development foundation, stimulate regional vitality, and deepen opening-up and industrial integration, enabling more landmarks to shine globally.
