The UK-China Tech Roundtable was held on March 19 in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province.
Representatives from government agencies, sci-tech enterprises, universities, and industrial platforms of China and the UK gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on key topics including scientific and technological innovation, industrial cooperation, and the global expansion of enterprises, exploring new avenues for cooperation and development.
Matthew Moody, minister-counselor at the British embassy to China, delivered the opening speech. He expressed excitement about the potential of China-UK sci-tech industrial cooperation and stated his willingness to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in key areas such as the digital economy.
During the regional promotion session, a representative of Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone gave a comprehensive introduction to the zone's development history, industrial layout, and advantages in the business environment. He said that, as a national independent innovation demonstration zone, Xi'an Hi-tech Industries Development Zone is speeding up efforts to become a global hub for scientific and technological innovation. He added that British enterprises and research institutions are welcome to invest and develop in the zone, pursue win-win cooperation and share in the dividends of development.
Representatives from renowned British enterprises and universities, including RELX Group, Optimise AI, and the University of Nottingham-Ningbo China, shared their own practices, presented successful cases of China-UK sci-tech cooperation, and conducted in-depth discussions on the future of bilateral collaboration.
London & Partners, alongside Scottish Development International, introduced the sci-tech development characteristics, industrial strengths, and investment environments of key regions in the UK, providing valuable information and guidance for Xi'an enterprises looking to explore the European market. Chinese and British enterprise representatives conducted in-depth exchanges on key areas including technological cooperation, market expansion, and talent exchange, with a number of preliminary cooperation agreements reached.
The event has not only served as a bridge for dialogue between China and the UK, but also helped Xi'an Hi-tech Zone further integrate into the global innovation network, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the regional sci-tech industry.
The zone will continue to deepen cooperation with the UK in scientific and technological innovation, industrial synergy, and talent exchange, build more cooperative platforms, help more local enterprises go global, and strive to set a new model for China-UK sci-tech cooperation.
