Industrial output and consumption in Guangdong province showed significant improvement from January to February, indicating a strong start to the year, according to local statistics authorities.
In the first two months, the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size increased by 7.9 percent year-on-year, a growth rate 4.9 percentage points higher than the whole of last year.
Fixed asset investment in the province shifted from decline to growth, reversing the downward trend that had persisted since May 2024, according to the provincial statistics bureau.
During the first two months, the total retail sales of consumer goods grew by 4.6 percent year-on-year, an increase of 1.8 percentage points compared to last year's overall growth.
In terms of output, industrial robots, 3D printing equipment, and integrated circuit products increased by 68 percent, 63.7 percent, and 47.5 percent, respectively.
Household appliance products also saw rapid growth, with the production of household refrigerators and washing machines increasing by 14.1 percent and 11.9 percent, respectively.
