In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the horse was prized as the symbol of military power, economic prosperity, and cultural flourishing. This pottery horse, with a neatly trimmed mane, an ornate saddle, sturdy legs, and a graceful body, captures the bold, spirited elegance of the Tang horses.
Unearthed in Hongshan district, Wuhan, Hubei province, this striking steed is now preserved in the Wuhan Museum.
