Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has secured approval for its first regional-level technology innovation center, marking a major step forward in mine water hazard control and water resource protection.
The Inner Mongolia Mine Water Prevention and Resource Utilization Technology Innovation Center, led by the Inner Mongolia Research Institute of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), was approved by the Inner Mongolia Department of Science and Technology.
The center is established by the institute in collaboration with China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Huadian Coal Industry Co, and eight other universities and leading enterprises.
Aligned with national energy strategy priorities, the center will address key challenges in mine water hazard prevention and water conservation, with its main research areas including coal mine water safety, water-preserved mining, cost-effective treatment of high-salinity mine water, comprehensive utilization of solid and liquid coal waste, and coordinated development of coal and water resources.
The center will also promote breakthroughs in core technologies, advance pilot demonstrations, and accelerate the commercialization of major scientific achievements, providing robust technological and talent support for the region's high-quality development.
