An exhibition now on view at the Xi'an Art Museum in Shaanxi province brings together more than 200 original prints by over 20 European masters spanning five centuries.
Works by four towering figures in art history: Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-69), Francisco Goya (1746-1828), and Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) are highlighted. Through their masterpieces, visitors can trace the evolution of Western print art from the Renaissance to Expressionism. Their reflections on their times and the human condition are engraved with powerful carving tools.
