Lu Lin, a deputy to the National People's Congress and a neurologist at Shandong Provincial Hospital, has focused on advancing China's biopharmaceutical innovation and improving job opportunities for people with disabilities. As chairperson of the China Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, he has long been committed to the medical progress and welfare of people with disabilities.
Drawing on his experience as a clinical specialist, Lu highlighted the importance of high-quality development in the biopharmaceutical sector. He stressed the need to overcome key technological bottlenecks and strengthen the innovation chain, particularly in research and treatment for rare diseases.
Lu also emphasized expanding job opportunities for people with disabilities. He noted that emerging digital platforms have opened new career paths, citing the example of a disabled ride-hailing driver he met during a research trip. However, he pointed out that current regulations have yet to fully adapt to these new forms of work. In particular, he highlighted the need for better alignment between C5 driver's licenses, which are issued to drivers with disabilities, and ride-hailing qualification requirements.
In addition, as a neurology expert, Lu expressed concern over the growing impact of excessive use of electronic devices on the attention spans of school children, highlighting the need for greater awareness and balanced digital habits.
