Deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from Shaanxi province arrived in Beijing on March 3 for the upcoming 2026 two sessions.
Zhao Xiangmo, an NPC deputy and president of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, is focusing on the integrated development of education, technology, and talent. Zhao suggests deepening innovation in collaborative mechanisms among government, industry, academia, research, and application, and advocates establishing interdisciplinary studies and high-level talent development systems tailored to future industries.
Fang Yan, an NPC deputy and senior partner at Beijing Jincheng Tongda & Neal Law Firm, as well as the director of the firm's Xi'an office, will provide advice on adding protections to laws and regulations for senior citizens. Her suggestions address issues such as online consumer traps, housing rental difficulties, and financial fraud. Fang hopes to build a protection system that encompasses age-friendly adaptations, data privacy, and fraud prevention. Regarding children with disabilities and orphans in welfare institutions, she suggests that authorities further implement policies safeguarding rehabilitation rights to ensure these children receive better and more timely medical care.
Cui Yali, a CPPCC National Committee member and a professor at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at Northwest University, has long emphasized chronic disease prevention and public health promotion, providing key recommendations on stroke screening and prevention. Cui advises that governments enhance comprehensive hypertension screening and risk stratification management while implementing full-cycle lifestyle interventions for high-risk groups to reduce the incidence of strokes.
Li Mei, a CPPCC National Committee member and director of the Shaanxi Opera Research Institute, is focusing on cultural heritage issues. At the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC, Li's advice will aim at promoting the coordinated development of operas by utilizing major genres and troupes to support smaller ones. She will advocate for using diverse industries to aid in the protection and preservation of Shaanxi's dialects.
