The eighth Chinese New Year cultural festival recently took place in Kozármisleny, Hungary, turning the city into a place for Sino-Hungarian exchange and celebrating the shared values of renewal and hope.
Pohl Marietta, mayor of Kozármisleny, noted that Spring Festival has become a valued local tradition, fostering community cohesion. She highlighted China's spirit of honoring tradition while embracing the future, saying it aligns with her city's development philosophy.
Han Dongsheng, counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, extended Chinese New Year greetings, saying that the festival's themes of reunion and harmony resonate universally. He said the event shows the strong friendship between China and Hungary.
The festival offered a cultural experience mixing traditional heritage with modern style. Highlights included the guzheng (plucked zither) solo depicting galloping horses, the thunderous beats of Ansai waist drums, graceful qipao (a traditional dress) performances, and dances evoking poetic Eastern imagery.
Interactive zones attracted residents who wanted to try Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, and traditional hanfu clothing, providing a hands-on experience with China's cultural heritage.
