During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday from Feb 15 to 23, the Xi'an municipal bureau of commerce improved the quality and efficiency of its consumer goods trade-in policy, and launched 130 consumption promotion activities, achieving a strong start to the year.
The 50 key monitored commercial enterprises achieved sales of 1.42 billion yuan ($207.7 million), up 5.9 percent year-on-year. Among them, retail sales of goods reached 1.28 billion yuan, up 5.1 percent while catering revenue hit 140 million yuan, an increase of 13.1 percent.
A total of 51.06 million yuan in trade-in subsidies were issued, benefiting 112,000 consumers and directly driving consumption of 450 million yuan.
The Xi'an Spring Festival Fair, held just before the holiday, attracted 275,000 people, with a transaction volume of 153 million yuan.
Time-honored brands and specialty catering enterprises launched Chinese New Year's Eve dinner packages and extended their opening hours, effectively meeting consumer demand.
The "Time-honored Brands Spring Festival Fair" brought together 19 brands and integrated Qinqiang Opera culture to create an immersive experience, stimulating catering consumption and fostering a strong festive atmosphere.
The Xi'an municipal bureau of commerce also strengthened supply monitoring at key supermarkets and vegetable wholesale markets, urging them to increase and replenish stock, to create a high-quality, harmonious, and safe consumption environment for citizens and tourists.
