Meet a good-looking duo from the Tang Dynasty (618-907). This stunning pair – a tri-color horse and its groom – recreates a vivid travel scene from over one thousand years ago.
The horse is robust and plump, glazed in a harmonious blend of yellow, green, and white. It stands poised with its tail gently raised, radiating the noble spirit of a prized steed. The groom figurine stands upright and composed, dressed in elegant attire and ready to lead the horse forward.
Unearthed from the tomb of Crown Prince Jiemin (Li Chongjun, died in 707) in Fuping county, Weinan city, Shaanxi province, this exquisite set is now housed at the Shaanxi History Museum.
