Xi'an tourism market booms during Spring Festival holiday

Xi'an's cultural and tourism market achieved a strong start to the year during the Spring Festival holiday, with the city's 3A-level and above scenic spots receiving 13.83 million tourist visits, up 17.82 percent year-on-year, generating revenue of 588 million yuan ($85.55 million), up 23.42 percent.

Exoskeleton robot rental points were set up along the Xi'an City Wall to ease walking, and cultural and museum institutions across the city extended their opening hours and launched more than 170 online and offline cultural events. The Xi'an Museum's special exhibition showcased the auspicious meanings and artistic charm of cultural relics related to horses, while scenic spots, tourist resorts, and commercial blocks introduced sports, fitness, and outdoor activities.

Market entities demonstrated strong momentum, with travel agencies across the city receiving 471,000 domestic group tourist visits, up 13.5 percent. The number of inbound group tourists rose by 138.7 percent, and the total revenue of the city's travel agency industry reached 250 million yuan, up 10.59 percent.

Sixteen key tourism performances staged a total of 1,317 shows, receiving 1.17 million visits, an increase of 18.31 percent, with comprehensive revenue totaling 94.98 million yuan, up 5.1 percent.

Five tourism and leisure blocks, including the Grand Tang Mall, welcomed 5.86 million tourist visits, with operating revenue of 351 million yuan, up 16.42 percent.

The city's 15 public libraries received 63,900 visits and provided online services to 218,300 people, while 14 cultural centers received 10,800 visits and served 31,500 people online.

Data from HopeGoo shows that Xi'an ranked third among China's most popular cities. Meituan data shows that Xi'an ranked as the seventh most popular Spring Festival travel destination, and Ctrip's data places Xi'an eighth on the list of China's most popular domestic destinations for tourists.
