Shanxi province prioritized the creation of new public cultural spaces as a key initiative to improve community welfare in 2025. By the end of the year, 80 distinctive cultural venues had been completed and opened to the public.

A notable example is the Jiexiu Incense Culture Museum, which exemplifies a government-led model with broad social participation. Ma Yi, the museum's director, shared that his cultural company invested over 1.3 million yuan ($186,856) in essential infrastructure, valuable exhibits, and daily operations, while a provincial grant of 500,000 yuan was allocated for cultural facilities, multi-functional exhibition and performance equipment, and upgrades to digital audio-visual displays and guided tours.

Advanced technology has made immersive experiences a highlight of these new cultural spaces. At the Jiexiu Incense Culture Museum, digital audio-visual systems transform incense culture and craftsmanship into a sensory journey. The museum has evolved into a shared platform for fine arts, including painting, music, and opera.

The Taiyuan Library's Taiyuannan Railway Station·Guomao T6 branch underwent a comprehensive upgrade in 2025. The nearly 500-square-meter space houses over 12,000 books, complete with comfortable seating and free amenities like water and charging stations, serving as a luxury waiting room where passengers can read while waiting for their trains.

These are but two examples of how Shanxi is seamlessly integrating high-quality cultural services into daily life, transforming them into tangible cultural benefits for its residents.
