The Longsheng Multinational autonomous county in Guilin, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has been named the national demonstration area of model for ethnic unity and progress, according to a press conference on Feb 6 in Guilin.

Speaking at the press conference, Huang Ling, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Longsheng Multinational Autonomous County Committee and head of the Department of the United Front Work, highlighted Longsheng's focus on ethnic unity through Party leadership, cultural tourism integration, industry empowerment, and efficient governance, uniting the county's 170,000 residents in building a harmonious community.
Longsheng has established Guangxi's first exhibition hall dedicated to fostering a sense of community across the Chinese nation. The county also formed a youth alliance to integrate ethnic unity into education systems. With 70.4 percent of its officials from minority groups, Longsheng exemplifies ethnic cohesion.

Tourism and culture serve as bridges for integration, with various initiatives attracting over 10 million tourists annually.
The county's "Two Teas, Two Fruits plus Specialty Breeding plus Cultural Tourism" industry model promotes shared prosperity. With over 110,000 mu (7,333 hectares) of fruit cultivation and significant industrial advancements, Longsheng ensures economic benefits for all ethnic groups in the county.

In modernizing the governance, Longsheng has amen solid steps to address difficulties in grassroots governance to promote ethnic unity.
Looking ahead, Huang said that Longsheng plans to strengthen the pilot program for shared modernization, focusing on youth exchanges and community integration as it seeks to create a model of ethnic unity for modernization.
