Huagong Genuine becomes leading optical module supplier

The automated production line at HGTECH Optoelectronic Information Innovation Park began mass-producing high-speed optical modules on Feb 3. The modules are set to be shipped to leading internet companies worldwide, where they will be used in AI inference and model training.

"Our orders are booked through the fourth quarter of 2026, and our production line is operating at full capacity 24/7," said Xu Qijian, vice-general manager of Huagong Genuine, a subsidiary of HGTECH. "This year, we plan to increase the production capacity of our 800G and 1.6T optical modules by more than 50 percent to meet market demand."

Last August, the first phase of HGTECH Optoelectronic Information Innovation Park began operations in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC), making Huagong Genuine the first in the world to achieve mass production of 1.6T optical modules. By 2027, the facility aims to produce over 40 million optical modules annually, generating an estimated annual output value exceeding 30 billion yuan ($4.33 billion).

The ability to deliver at full capacity and rapidly expand production is underpinned by core technologies and comprehensive supply chain capabilities. Xu emphasized that breakthroughs in key technologies are driven by collaborative efforts by top-tier talent and supported by OVC's robust industrial ecosystem.

Looking ahead, HGTECH Chairman Ma Xinqiang stated that the company aims to thoroughly integrate AI into all aspects of its operations, enhance global business operations, and transition from "product exports" to "capability exports".
