Shanxi introduces key measures to enhance healthcare security

The Shanxi Provincial Healthcare Security Bureau has launched key measures under the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) to strengthen grassroots healthcare security and establish a more comprehensive benefits mechanism and a more efficient pharmaceutical service management model.

A long-term care insurance system is being implemented to encourage grassroots medical and elderly care institutions to provide nursing services, and universal insurance coverage is advancing, with long-term mechanisms in place to ensure dynamic enrollment for disadvantaged groups.

Efforts are underway to optimize the medical assistance and critical illness insurance systems, promote provincial-level coordination of employee medical insurance, and standardize reimbursement standards for cross-provincial medical treatment.

Shanxi is advancing planning for designated medical and pharmaceutical institutions, improving the "dual-channel" drug access and exit mechanism, and enhancing the dynamic adjustment mechanism for disease-based payment to support the development of grassroots medical institutions.

The province is also expanding the use of the medical insurance information platform to enable nationwide, interconnected sharing of medical records, empowering the high-quality development of medical insurance through digital technologies.
