Standing tall at 163 cm and stretching 163 cm in length, this life-sized bronze horse weighs a stunning 720 jin (about 360 kg)! Resembling a cross between a Ferghana horse of the Xiyu (Western Regions) and a Mongolian horse, it may look structurally simple at first glance, but its scale has earned it the title of "China's No 1 Bronze Horse".
Discovered in 2008 at a construction site in Fancheng district, Xiangyang, Hubei province, the horse was buried in the tomb of a general from the early Three Kingdoms (220-280) period. It is now preserved in the Xiangyang Museum.
