Two major city landmarks in Nantong, the century-old Clock Tower and the south gate of Langshan Mountain, displayed giant couplets to enhance the festive atmosphere for Chinese New Year on Feb 10.

The event of "hanging couplets on the city's gates" has been a key cultural celebration in Nantong for nine years.

The couplet on the Clock Tower was themed around the Year of the Horse and incorporated Nantong's regional characteristics. The couplet on the south gate of Langshan Mountain depicted the majestic landscapes of Nantong, highlighting the city's spirit of progress. Both couplets were created collaboratively by renowned artists and calligraphers.

The event site also featured intangible cultural heritage experiences, including sugar painting, tiger-head shoes, and dough figurines. Calligraphers were present to write Chinese character "Fu" (fortune) and Spring Festival couplets for the residents.
