Guilin deputies gather in Nanning for Guangxi's 14th regional congress

The fifth session of the 14th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People's Congress opened in Nanning on Feb 2.

A day earlier, Guangxi and national people's congress deputies from Guilin arrived in the regional capital with enthusiasm and high spirits to register for the meeting.

At the registration site, the deputies completed all the necessary procedures smoothly under the guidance of staff. They then immediately got down to work – reading session materials, exchanging insights and refining proposals to fulfill their duties.

2026 marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, making this session particularly significant. The deputies conducted in-depth pre-session research to gather public opinions and prepare high-quality proposals.

They pledged to contribute practical suggestions aligned with China's development needs and the aspirations of the public, promoting the implementation of central and regional policies.

Deputy Mo Bikun focused on Lijiang River ecological protection, putting forward proposals on addressing the difficulties in supervising agricultural non-point source pollution to safeguard Guilin's ecological brand.

Deputy Jiang Guiping, an enterprise representative, highlighted digital transformation in manufacturing. He called for policy support for AI applications and industrial informatization to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises and promote the development of the Guangxi Science and Technology Innovation Pilot Zone in Guilin.

Grassroots deputy Wang Deli emphasized agriculture, forestry, medical care and grape industrialization, urging regional support for rural vitalization in Guilin.
