Deputies from Nantong set off for Nanjing on Feb 2 to participate in the fifth session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, scheduled for Feb 3.

Prior to the meeting, these deputies conducted thorough research in their respective fields and areas of expertise, gathering public opinion and preparing well-considered motions and suggestions.

Wang Haiying, director of Nantong Aidexin Tax Agents, is focusing on the development of the private economy. She suggests strengthening compliance management for small and medium-sized enterprises. Wang highlighted that fostering sustainable, healthy, and high-quality growth in the private sector depends on both establishing a strong market environment and motivating enterprises to improve their awareness of lawful and compliant practices while strengthening their modern governance skills.

Deng Lin, director of the Comprehensive Management Department at Huari (Jiangsu) Gas Turbine Services, is concentrating on public welfare innovation and energy security. She advocates promoting the "food bank" initiative province-wide to conserve food and provide targeted assistance. As an energy industry representative, Deng also suggests that Jiangsu seize strategic opportunities presented by the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) for energy development, focus on breakthroughs in key core technologies, and strive to establish a national hub for gas turbine technology innovation.

Cong Xiao, director of the Education and Science Department at Tongzhou Senior High School, proposes suggestions to strengthen mental health and sex education for left-behind rural girls. Cong suggests appointing special guardians for these girls to enhance psychological care and professional guidance. She also emphasizes the importance of supporting the growth of minors involved in crimes by offering career planning courses to help them reshape their life beliefs, acquire survival skills, and achieve self-reliance.
