The 2026 Spring Festival Event for Shandong Foreign Experts took place in Jinan on Jan 27, gathering 105 experts and their families from 28 countries, along with representatives from government, research institutions, and enterprises.
The event aimed to strengthen cultural integration and foster international experts' sense of belonging in Shandong province.
Zhang Youming, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, praised the province's forward-thinking vision and practical approach to scientific innovation. Alexander Raikov, a Russian academician at the Jinan Institute of Supercomputing Technology, described Shandong as a fertile and inclusive environment for research and development.
The celebration featured a mix of Chinese traditions and international cultures. Participants engaged in intangible cultural heritage activities such as dough modeling and sachet making, and enjoyed Peking Opera and international string ensembles.
