The fifth session of the 14th Jilin Provincial People's Congress opened early in the morning of Jan 27 in Changchun.
The province has set major targets for 2026, including regional GDP growth of around 5 percent, a 5 percent increase in retail sales of consumer goods, a 6 percent rise in the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size, and a 3.7 percent increase in general public budget revenue.
To achieve these targets, Jilin will focus on eight key areas, including promoting positive interactions between consumers and investors, fostering a modern industrial system with Jilin characteristics, strengthening innovation to develop new quality productive forces, advancing the modernization of agriculture, deepening reform and opening-up, improving people's livelihoods, enhancing ecological protection, and better coordinating development and security.
After the meeting, deputies to the Jilin Provincial People's Congress delivered some speeches and answered questions.
Qu Fengcai, chairman of Jilin Jichun Pharmaceutical Co, highlighted Jilin's dominance in sika deer resources, noting that the province accounts for 80 percent of China's sika deer population and leads the country in terms of breeding scale and antler production.
He called for stronger germplasm protection, deeper industrial chain development, and enhanced branding to promote high-end, standardized, and branded sika deer products from Jilin.
