The Peru National Broadband Project, constructed by Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Co (YOFC), based in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC), has entered the operational phase in Ancash, Peru.

In July 2019, Raul Garcia, Peru's vice minister of Transport and Communications, signed a cooperation agreement with YOFC to launch the national broadband project. The initiative spans four regions in Peru – Ancash, Arequipa, San Martin, and La Libertad – providing broadband services to more than 1 million people across over 1,600 towns.

With the network in Ancash now operational, the project has installed over 9,000 kilometers of optical fiber and completed civil engineering works for over 1,500 sites. The network now offers internet services to over 4,000 public institutions, including schools, hospitals, police stations, and central squares.

As YOFC's international operations continue to mature, the company has established eight production bases across six countries, delivering products and services to more than 100 countries and regions worldwide. By the first half of 2025, YOFC's overseas business revenue had accounted for over 40 percent of total company revenue for the first time.

Since 2016, YOFC has led global sales in its three main businesses: optical fiber preform, optical fiber, and optical cable, maintaining a leading global market share for nine consecutive years. Its overseas business revenue has exceeded 30 percent for four consecutive years, contributing to a global fiber broadband coverage rate of 47.3 percent.
