3. Palace Museum in Beijing celebrates its 100th anniversary
The Palace Museum in Beijing marked its centennial on Oct 10, 2025. Established in 1925, the former imperial palace has evolved from a royal residence into a public cultural institution of global significance.
A special exhibition, A Century of Stewardship: From the Forbidden City to the Palace Museum, opened on Sept 30 at the Meridian Gate Galleries in the Palace Museum. Featuring more than 200 artifacts — including paintings, calligraphy, jade, bronze, porcelain, and architectural components — the exhibition traced the museum's century-long journey and the enduring legacy of Chinese civilization.
