Hangzhou has launched its first metro-themed cultural and creative flagship store, Metro X, now in trial operation near Exit B of Qibao Station on Metro Line 1.
The space transforms a metro area that is typically passed though quickly by busy passengers into a multifunctional hub where commuters and visitors can shop, grab a coffee, and brows the exhibitions.
The store features original Hangzhou Metro-inspired merchandise, including seasonal cityscape fridge magnets, osmanthus-scented souvenir ticket cards, plush train toys, and detailed metro train models.
Popular items include a metro day-pass blind box, allowing unlimited rides for a day, and a metro-themed educational card game introducing subway knowledge through play.
Metro X also hosts a national metro ticket card exhibition, showcasing ticket designs from cities such as Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Fuzhou and Xi'an, offering a snapshot of urban culture across China. A cafe zone provides specialty drinks, including the signature X Line coffee blending Longjing tea, coconut milk and matcha.
Operated by Hangzhou Metro, Metro X is the city's first metro cultural flagship store. It has been in trial operation for over 10 days and is expected to move to full seven-day opening after the trial period.
