The 2026 International Winter Swimming Association (IWSA) World Challenge (Jinan) and the 13th Jinan International Open Winter Springs-Swimming started in Jinan on Jan 17.
Nearly 1,000 swimmers from 20 countries, including Finland, Argentina, and Germany, gathered to compete in the world's only winter swimming event held in natural spring water. The competition features 300-meter open-water sprints and pool races.
Now in its 13th edition, the event has become a key fixture on the international winter swimming calendar. During the opening ceremony, Matias Ola, an associated member of the IWSA, praised the city's unique environment, noting that participants return not only for the pristine waters but also for Jinan's vibrant culture and hospitality.
As a top platform for international sports exchange, the race highlights the harmonious relationship between the city's urban landscape and its natural wonders, significantly boosting Jinan's global appearance.
