The towering trees on the campus of Communication University of China provide an ideal habitat for wildlife. However, the birds that share this space with humans have long been overlooked. Guided by renowned birdwatcher Paul Holt, actor Zhang Yao has adopted an eco-activist approach, seeking out and documenting the campus's birdlife. Using cameras and recording equipment, Zhang has captured and catalogued the birds' activities on campus. She has identified many species, including the white-headed bulbul, yellow-billed grosbeak, common blackbird, magpie, Eurasian collared dove, hawfinch, great spotted woodpecker, oriental greenfinch, red-billed starling, white-cheeked starling, and spotted dove. This work illustrates the campus's biodiversity and transforms the often-unnoticed soundscape of everyday campus life into a creative and social commentary on the artistry of animals.
