"Life is the source of creation." This was the principle that artist Huang Zhou (1925-1997) upheld throughout his life.
Huang traveled to Jiangnan many times, drawing as he wandered through towns and rivers in the region. Now, Huang Zhou's Jiangnan-themed works are on view at the Suzhou Museum, capturing local customs while revealing how he both inherited and reimagined traditional Chinese painting.
