Xiamen FTZ's Golden Rooster sci-fi salon fuels China's film industry

The Golden Rooster Project Market's "Sci-fi Film Production Salon" convened on Nov 13 in Xiamen Free Trade Zone, bringing together global film technology leaders and top-tier experts for high-level dialogues, resource connections, and screenings to deepen the integration of "industrial collaboration, talent pooling, and technological empowerment" in Chinese sci-fi film.

The salon saw the launch of the "Dream Makers Alliance" initiative, which brings together leading international film and technology institutions, including the global virtual production leader Dimension x DNEG 360, the veteran UK production house Cambridge Picture Company, and the three-time Emmy Award-winning VFX powerhouse Base FX.

Participants held dialogues centered on how sci-fi creation can express Eastern perspectives within global narratives, and how Chinese sci-fi films can be empowered by technology and talent collaboration, generating forward-thinking ideas for industrial growth.

The Maritime Silk Road (Xiamen) International Film Industry Base serves as a key platform of the National Cultural Export Base within Xiamen FTZ. Focusing on China's domestic sci-fi needs, the base has supported the production of multiple sci-fi works, providing comprehensive assistance in equipment, funding, technology, and production, while also sharing cutting-edge technological resources — such as virtual filming and AIGC real-time visual effects generation — with young creators.
