The 14th Cross-Strait Television Art Festival and the 17th Cross-Strait New Presenter Competition concluded on Nov 9 in Fuzhou.
Three participants earned the Best New Presenter Award: Yang Junxin from the Communication University of China, Xu Mengting from Hangzhou Normal University, and Zhu Jiankai from Shih Hsin University.
The cross-Strait new presenter competition took place in Fuzhou for the first time, marking a new stage of closer engagement among young talents from both sides of the Strait.
The competition featured three segments — hosting simulation, debate and critical thinking — to comprehensively assess contestants' professional skills.
In the first segment, contestants worked in pairs to complete four simulated hosting tasks.
In the second segment, contestants engaged in debates covering a wide range of topics — from everyday issues, such as whether university dormitory assignments should be freely chosen or remain random, to forward-looking discussions on whether AI could replace broadcasters and hosts.
The final segment highlighted the importance of dialogue. Zhu Jiankai noted that progress requires the courage to initiate dialogue, as every possibility stems from communication.
In addition, the festival featured a range of exchange activities, including a cross-Strait AI creative workshop and a salon on new drama and production cooperation, further deepening cross-Strait collaboration in television arts.
