The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened on Nov 5, serving as a vital platform for global trade cooperation and a stage for cultural exchange.

At the Gansu exhibition area, visitors enjoyed a VR experience that transported them inside the Mogao Caves to explore the caves' timeless murals and sculptures through immersive technology. The display also highlighted the rich artistic traditions of Jiuquan, a key stop along the ancient Silk Road.

In addition to the digital experience, visitors admired Dunhuang woodblock printing — an art form rooted in the cultural heritage of northwestern China. Each piece, inspired by the murals and motifs of the Mogao Caves, reflected both exquisite craftsmanship and modern creativity, showing how traditional culture continues to inspire new forms of expression.

The crafts area featured intricate handmade items, such as Qingyang embroidered sachets that combined natural spices with colorful silk threads to symbolize good fortune and well-being. In the food section, a master chef demonstrated the art of making Lanzhou beef noodles, offering visitors a taste of Gansu's most famous dish.

With its stunning display at the CIIE, Gansu's Silk Road heritage brought the warmth and vitality of northwestern China's traditions to an international audience, deepening mutual understanding through cultural exchange.
