OVC triumphs in Wuhan City Super League

On Nov 9, the 2025 Wuhan City Super League District Finals concluded with the team of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also known as the "OVC Team", securing a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Caidian district team. This win crowned OVC as the district champions with an impressive undefeated streak across eight matches.

Over the past three months, the OVC Team has maintained an intense training regimen, focusing on everything from physical conditioning to tactical planning. Their dedication paid off, earning them the title of "all-around champions" among locals who now say, "OVC is the first in economy, and also the first in football."

OVC is not only a leader in technological and economic development but also a nurturing ground for culture and sports. Football has become an integral part of the corporate culture for many institutions and companies in the zone.

Companies like HGTECH, Guide Infrared, and Xiaomi Wuhan boast their own football teams. Guide Infrared alone fields eight teams, with a football club boasting nearly 110 members who engage in weekly matches. Zhou Benyan, head of HR at Guide Infrared, said, "In OVC, football is part of our corporate culture. Just like on the field, everyone plays their part in the workplace, works together, and supports each other to achieve success."

In addition to football, OVC hosts major events like the Wuhan Open, the World Snooker Wuhan Open, and the Optics Valley Marathon, which have become international highlights for Wuhan and OVC. During the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), the zone plans to actively develop and construct a range of large public cultural and sports facilities.
