A first for the Palace Museum: Creating an artifact-inspired musical for children
On Sept 3, 2022, the Palace Museum premiered its first original musical for children – Luduan – at the stage of the China National Opera House in Beijing.
Inspired by the mythical unicorn luduan, a guardian creature from the Palace Museum's collection, the production follows young Luduan and his artifact family on a heartwarming adventure to discover new ways of carrying cultural heritage forward.
Blending music, dance, and imagination, the show brings ancient relics to life, showing children that tradition can shine in creative and playful ways.
