Hohhot's green agricultural and livestock processing industry cluster expands

During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Hohhot has beenis promoting the development of the green agricultural and livestock product processing industry cluster, led by the dairy and grass seed industries, with the goal of establishing major national production bases for these products.

Relying on its superior resources, geographical advantages, and well-established industrial system, Hohhot has developed a complete industrial chain from forage cultivation to dairy production. The two major companies, Yili and Mengniu, are spearheading the collaborative development of this industrial chain. The dairy cluster has been selected as a national advanced manufacturing cluster, and Hohhot has been recognized as the "World Dairy Technology City" and the "China Dairy Breeding City".

At the beginning of 2024, the 17th Inner Mongolia Dairy Expo, which was held in Hohhot, showcased a range of new products, technologies, and equipment. Through innovative sales models and technologies, traditional industries in Hohhot were revitalized.

From planning to list the green agricultural and livestock product processing industry cluster as one of the six key industrial clusters to implementing a series of supportive policies and measures, Hohhot has promoted traditionally advantageous industries.

Over the past three years, Hohhot has implemented 296 key projects, achieving receivinginvestments of 34.8 billion yuan ($4.88 billion) in investment, and has driven the industry chain toward higher-end, intelligent, and green development. The application of big data and blockchain technology has improved production efficiency and product transparency. In 2024, Hohhot showcased high-end dairy products at the 4th China International Consumer Products Expo, reflecting its global perspective and commitment to international cooperation.

Hohhot will continue to deepen the integration of the industrial chain, expand international cooperation, and advance the green agricultural and livestock product processing industry cluster to a higher level, contributing to national food security, rural vitalization, and the construction of the modern industrial system.
