With 27,000 cubic meters of mechanical equipment loaded onto the bulk carrier Top Advancer at Yantai Port of Shandong Port Group (SPG), the Yantai-Tanzania (Port of Tanga) break-bulk shipping route was launched. This has brought the number of Yantai Port's international break-bulk shipping routes to 29, thereby injecting new momentum into high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania is responsible for 95 percent of the country's international trade volume and serves multiple neighboring landlocked countries, but it has long been plagued by congestion. Port of Tanga, one of the oldest operating ports in East Africa, can reach Uganda, Rwanda, and other landlocked countries, forming a complementary pattern with southern ports. The launch of the service will leverage Port of Tanga's regional hub advantages to divert cargo pressure, providing more efficient logistics solutions for East Africa and neighboring landlocked countries.

The expansion of the route represents a crucial step forward in Yantai Port's efforts to build its global supply chain system. Currently, the port has launched 29 break-bulk cargo routes connecting regions including Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. The routes carry over 200 types of cargo, such as special equipment, construction machinery, and wind power equipment.

During January-September, Yantai Port delivered more than 11.94 million metric tons of break-bulk cargo, up 41.8 percent year-on-year, and completed last year's annual shipment volume three months ahead of schedule. Yantai Port is consolidating its advantages as a break-bulk cargo base of SPG, advancing the upgrading of its global break-bulk cargo supply chain resilience.
