The first Yungang Forum was held on Oct 25 at Shanxi University's Datong campus, gathering experts and scholars from higher education societies, universities, and institutions to explore initiatives for advancing higher education in central and western China and to contribute ideas for China's modernization.
Ma Jun, director of the Shanxi Provincial Education Department, hoped that the forum would foster multi-level, regular exchanges and cooperation among different regions and universities, enhance collaborative support, and promote resource sharing to develop a new ecosystem for higher education in central and western China.
Zhang Qiang, Party secretary of Datong, reaffirmed the city's commitment to providing exceptional services and support for the campus's development. He highlighted the city's efforts to ensure that research ideas thrive within its industrial landscape and that youthful aspirations find a place in its development blueprint.
Wang Yanglin, Party secretary of Shanxi University, highlighted the crucial role of the Datong campus in optimizing the university's academic and professional offerings. The campus has introduced new programs in artificial intelligence and new energy, aligning with emerging industry needs.
Attendees discussed optimizing higher education layouts to promote regional coordinated development and adjusting academic and professional structures to empower innovation and development.
