A first for the Palace Museum: Its "21st Century Renovation" begins
On Oct 17, 2002, the Palace Museum launched its largest restoration project since the early 1920s. Starting with the Hall of Martial Valour (Wuying Dian), this project marked a new chapter in the protection of the Forbidden City's ancient architecture. It was not only about preserving heritage architecture, but also about practicing restoration techniques and refining preservation theories.
