The painting exhibition of Ding Jie, an artist in Nantong, Jiangsu province, opened its doors to the public on Oct 10 in Rome, capital of Italy, as part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's global exhibition "From Seeds to Table".

In celebration of World Food Day and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the FAO, Ding Jie was invited by the FAO to display his works featuring Chinese paintings of terraced fields.

The exhibition aims to pay tribute to human agricultural civilization, focusing on global food security issues, and has received praise from FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, the King of Lesotho, and other international guests.

Ding spent years immersing himself in China's terraced fields, capturing the vitality of the land through an artistic lens. His depictions of terraced fields are concrete landscapes and spiritual totems. The works transcend mere landscape portrayal, elevating terraced fields to symbols of human destiny. Through ink, colors, and lines, viewers can appreciate the profound heritage of agricultural civilization and the vital importance of safeguarding food security.

This exhibition is not only an artistic tribute to the FAO's 80-year journey of protecting global food security but also a practice of promoting action through cultural strength. It evokes deep affection for the land, a reverence for agricultural culture, respect for food, and a shared commitment to global food security.
