The 2025 Cooperation and Exchange Event of the National Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Innovation Alliance was recently held in Beijing, gathering over 100 representatives from government departments and chambers of commerce of 39 FTZ areas across China.
During the event, the2024-2025 Compilation of Important Institutional Innovation Caseswas released, featuring 121 innovation cases from 67 alliance members to highlight leading experiences.
The Chongzuo Area of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone stood out with four selected cases, covering trade facilitation and financial opening-up.
Three cases concentrate on trade facilitation: a new China-Vietnam cross-border integrated customs clearance model, a coordinated innovation system for cross-border e-commerce, and an on-site inspection approach for imported and exported fruits.
The fourth innovation, a financial breakthrough, is the country's first model that links government platforms with banks for enterprise foreign exchange registration.
These examples have increased efficiency like reducing foreign exchange registration time from weeks to minutes and have fueled growth, with fruit trade at Youyiguan Port, or Friendship Pass, exceeding 2 million metric tons in 2024.
The selection emphasizes Chongzuo Area’s accomplishments in institutional innovation, underscoring its support for high-level opening-up in border regions.
