Taiyuan dominates list of Shanxi's top 20 internet companies

Recently, the 2025 Shanxi Province Internet Enterprise Comprehensive Strength Index Report released by the Shanxi Provincial Internet Association revealed the province's top 20 internet companies in 2025.

The companies are involved in enterprise services, e-commerce, and smart logistics. Eighteen of them are located in the provincial capital of Taiyuan, accounting for 90 percent of the total, and their combined internet revenue has reached 29.19 billion yuan ($4.1 billion), accounting for 52 percent of the total.

The internet business income of the top 20 companies exceeded 55 billion yuan, and the scale and efficiency have been improved. The operating income of the top 20 companies was 103.87 billion yuan, and the overall scale increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year; the internet business income was 55.86 billion yuan, an increase of 26.1 percent year-on-year.

Research and development investment among the top 20 companies was valued at 1.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2 percent. There are nine companies with R&D expenditures accounting for more than 5 percent of their total expenses, of which two companies exceed 15 percent.

The scale of R&D personnel increased by 12.6 percent year-on-year, and the proportion of R&D personnel was close to 10 percent. The continuous expansion of the scale of R&D personnel provides a continuous human resource guarantee for enterprise technological innovation.
