The DJ502 comprehensive inspection train departed from Xi'anbei Railway Station on Oct 1, heading north towards Yan'an.

This event marked the beginning of the rail's highest-speed test, where the train achieved a test speed of 385 km/h, following prior incremental speed tests.

Thirty-eight percent of the testing tasks for this rail line have been completed. Upcoming tests will focus on assessing signal systems, evaluating timetable parameters, and conducting fault simulations.

A command center has been established, featuring specialized teams to manage various aspects of the testing. Given the route's complex terrain and high tunnel ratio, the technical team has assessed risks and developed detailed operational and risk control diagrams to ensure smooth testing procedures.

Deng Jun, deputy director of the Science and Technology Information Department at China Railway Xi'an Group Co, commented, "We have completed multiple rounds of speed level tests, running nearly 100 test trains and collecting tens of thousands of data points. This has provided substantial technical support for the current speed boost test, confirming that the infrastructure is ready for high-speed operation."

The inspection train, equipped with numerous sensors and cameras, traveled between the Loess Plateau and the Guanzhong Plain, capturing critical data such as track geometry and signal quality. This comprehensive "health check" ensures system compatibility and stability under extreme conditions.

Wang Sen, a driver with six years of high-speed rail experience, participated in the tests, highlighting the challenges of controlling the train at 385 km/h without the ATP safety system, relying on manual control. "We practiced in simulators to ensure flawless execution," said Wang.

The railway, spanning 299.8 kilometers, is the first high-speed rail in northern Shaanxi and a vital component of China's high-speed rail network. It will reduce travel time between Xi'an and Yan'an from two and a half hours to approximately one hour.
