On Sept 26, the X8469 China-Europe Railway Express, loaded with car parts, digital equipment, daily necessities and other goods, departed from Xi'an International Port Station and headed west, after crossing the Eurasian continent, it will be transported by sea across the Baltic Sea and finally arrives in Hamburg, Germany.
This marked the operation of the first rail sea intermodal China-Europe Railway Express (Xi'an-Hamburg) to cross the Baltic Sea, creating a new pattern of Eurasian development.
"The operation of this train is a crucial step for us to translate the cooperation consensus of the Euro-Asia Economic Forum into practical actions," said Liu Shunli, a representative of the Xi'an International Port Business Department of Xi'an railway bureau.
The new line adopts the "railway-sea intermodal transport" model, which optimizes railway transportation scheduling and coordinates ports along the line to improve customs clearance efficiency. The whole process time is controlled within about 17 days, which is on par with the traditional transportation line time, achieving the dual goals of "ensuring time efficiency" and "adding choices".
From January to August, the China-Europe Railway Express (Xi'an) operated a total of 4,069 trains, a year-on-year increase of 12.4 percent. Its core indicators, such as operating volume, freight volume, and heavy container rate, all ranked first in the country. Among them, 3,090 trains were sent toward Europe and 979 trains were sent toward Central Asia. The weight of goods transported was 4.55 metric million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.9 percent. A total of 411,000 TEUs were sent, a year-on-year increase of 8.2 percent.
Xi'an railway bureau will continue to utilize the advantages of the China-Europe Railway Express Xi'an Assembly Center, unite various forces, increase the operation of trains, and continue to support the high-quality development of China-Europe cross-border trade, providing transportation capacity guarantee for building a new pattern of Eurasian development.
