​Xi'an holds CICA Regional Tourism Cooperation Conference

As an important event of the 2025 Euro-Asia Economic Forum, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Regional Tourism Cooperation Conference was held from Sept 23 to 24 at the Xi'an International Convention Center. This was the first tourism conference held by CICA in its 30-year history.

CICA is a multilateral mechanism for dialogue and consultation on security and cooperation issues in Asia. Its main purpose and objective are to promote peace, security, and stability through the formulation and implementation of confidence building measures. To date, it includes 28 member states and 15 observers.

At the conference's opening ceremony, Zhang Ling, CICA's deputy secretary-general, emphasized the comprehensive driving role of tourism in the economy, culture, and sustainable development, and introduced the fruits of cooperation in confidence building measures, especially in recent years' tourism cooperation among CICA member states.

At the roundtable meeting of the conference, participating parties discussed and exchanged ideas on four themes: "integration and exchange of culture and tourism in the CICA region", "promoting the development of inbound tourism and expanding the international tourism market", "new paths for cultivating cultural and tourism talents in the CICA region", and "empowering CICA with cultural tourism".

Guests from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Laos, and Kyrgyzstan introduced their countries' respective tourism characteristics and product services. Many representatives of universities and enterprises believe that disciplinary barriers, school enterprise barriers, and regional barriers should be broken down to open up more areas of communication.

The results of the conference will inject new momentum into deepening tourism cooperation among CICA countries and promoting regional integration and development.
